In the quality of its cuisine, it surely ranks with Parks. You can easily sample fine cuisine from all over China and those of the world as well. The food of Hong Kong is simply glorious. For shopping, Hong Kong is a duty-free shopper’s paradise where you can find bargains galore. You can enjoy shopping and browsing in the air-conditioned malls of your hotel and in the big shopping complexes and department stores. Or you can venture into the street markets, where a little bargaining is the rule of the game. Hong Kong is the place to pick up that special treasure in jade, gold or porcelain. It is also a paradise for antiques. Other duty-free bargains are found in cameras, stereo equipment, watches, lighters and appliance.


LANGUAGE

Cantonese is the main dialect, and to a lesser extent Mandarin. However, English is widely understood in most shops, restaurants and hotels.


VISA

Visitors from most countries can enter Hong Kong without a visa for periods varying from seven days to six months. There are currently no immunization requirements.


MONEY & CREDIT CARDS

Legal tender is the Hong Kong Dollar (HKD). The HKD is pegged by the government at HKD7.8 to the American Dollar. Major credit cards are widely accepted.

CLIMATE

Hong Kong is a sub-tropical, monsoonal city with four distinct seasons.

Spring: March to mid-May has temperatures from 19 oC - 26 oC and bring occasional mist and rain showers.

Summer: late May to mid-September has temperatures from 26 oC - 33 oC and is normally sunny but during the typhoon season (July–September) there can be heavy rains.

Autumn: September to early December, temperatures can range from 18 oC - 28 oC and is sunny and clear.

Winter: late December to February, the temperature ranges from 12 oC - 18 oC and is sunny, bright and occasionally quit.
